I often get how my book came to exist, often by people who are shaking their heads and burning it in bonfires. Now, via my lovely friends at Chapters Indigo, here is the answer:

The answer is YES! There is room out there for any and all of our stories, so stop thinking about it and start doing it. I look very forward to reading it.

Rapture Promises

I've been using the coming Rapture as the main reason I never update this blog. Sometimes I think to do it but then I say to myself "What's the point, the Rapture is coming?" and "The bible says people with blogs will NOT be chosen." I've got to save myself. Eternal salvation first, blogging second. Also, it turns out that watching Millionaire Matchmaker is easier than updating a blog. This was not foretold in the bible but is a fact nonetheless.

In any case, good luck tomorrow! It's every man for himself. If I'm still around Sunday, I guess I have to finally recycle all my old magazines. May the Rapture be good to you.

Authors 101: Get Ready for the Comments

Last night, a friend of mine posted the back of my book on to a website called Reddit. It REALLY wasn't me, unlike what people on the site kept insisting (I get it, I am cynical too). This morning I got an email from my brother saying he had seen it there. It got a lot of notice on the site and I must say, the majority of the comments were very positive. Then it got posted on a few other sites, as well as tweeted about by many people.

People in the publishing community seemed confused, noting that I was using Oprah's blurb for A Tale of Two Cities to sell my own. Now I love Oprah and she's a powerful lady. But unless someone's seen a photo of her high-fiving Abraham Lincoln, she's not yet immortal or capable of time travel so I'm unsure how she could blurb a book written before her existence. The quote, like the rest, is fake.

Something else that would help is if the reviews were written by someone with a basic grasp of English grammar. Honestly, based on the writing on the back, I wouldn't even open this book.

Welcome, friends. Please come in to my blog. Please take your shoes off if you don't mind, I just cleaned the floors.

To start, my first book drops (it's what the kids are saying) in exactly two weeks. I shall post updates about it and the writing life here, if you are interested.

I'm preparing for the fateful day, when people will judge me with both positive and negative outcomes, with my diet of three daily affirmations:

1. It can't be worse than Snooki's book.

2. It's cool--lots of female authors have sideburns.

3. It's going to be fine.

Let's hope I am right on all counts.
